Hello and welcome to Top 5 Eateries!

I have been talking about food and places to eat at for so many years that after encouragement from friends and family I am finally putting it all into a blog!

A little bit about me…

I was born and raised in Sweden, but my family is from Iran, so I was fostered in two completely different cultures. My love for food probably stems from my upbringing. I was raised by my mother and grandmother, both exceptionally good cooks who always treated food with immense love, thought and importance. To this day, whenever my mother passes by a fruit or vegetable stand her mouth drops and I swear I can almost hear Barry White’s ‘I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby’ playing in her head. My grandmother was OG. For most of her life, she grew her own herbs, fruits and vegetables that she would cook with. She made her own pickles. She examined produce at supermarkets in a way I have only seen pro’s do on Chef’s Table. If you had only ONE full portioned plate of her food, that meant you didn’t like it, she wouldn’t budge until you were on your third plate and a box to go.

I never pursued a career in cooking, although it seriously crossed my mind a couple of times. I was always more focused on pursuing a career in film and theater, but food came knocking on my door when I got the opportunity to start my own food column in college for The Sundial at CSUN, which truly peaked my interest in writing about food. After college by sheer universal laws I somehow found myself in the world of entertainment again working in the marketing and film industry.

So here I am, in the city I always wanted to live in, in an industry I always yearned to be part of, and with an obsession I have finally found a platform for. I hope this blog will not only be an outlet for my food ventures, but also a valuable tool for you to find your next eatery!

Top 5 Eateries

Once a month I will be posting my current top five choices of where to eat based on city, occasion, budget or mood. A lot of these places are located within Los Angeles County because that is where I live (did you know LA County holds 88 cities?) but I am always exploring foods when I am out of town or outside the country, so do expect some non-Angelino eateries as well.

Please stay tuned for updates, and drop your thoughts, suggestions for eateries and/or questions in the comments!

Myself to the left, and my mother who is half my size, vertically and horizontally, and can eat three times more than me.
